TDP-Janasena Alliance on Shaky Ground as Party Cadres Infighting Out in Open
The recent infighting and differences between the leaders of TDP and Jana Sena Party (JSP) indicate that all is not well in the alliance. The parties forged an electoral alliance months before the Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. However, this decision seems to be not working in their favour.
After forging an alliance, the leadership of the both parties formed coordination committees to give a direction to the pre-poll tie-up. These coordination committees exposing the chinks in the TDP-Janasena armour.
Recently, the leaders from TDP and Janasena held a coordination committee meeting at TDP office in Pithapuram. These meetings are aimed at bringing the leaders and cadre of both parties, however, the meetings end up in chaos following the war of words between the participants.
During the constituency level coordinate committee meeting, TDP MLA SVSN Varma sought help from Janasena party cadre for his party candidate. However, Janasena’s constituency incharge Uday Srinivas Tangella raised objection and this led to war of words between the party leaders which soon escalated into fist fights and the meeting ended in chaos.
In the subsequent meeting at the TDP office, Janasena leader Uday Srinivas asserted that he would be contesting from Pithapuram Assembly constituency as the TDP leader Varma lost the previous elections. The TDP leader countering Srinivas’ statement with eloquence and said he admits that he could not win the Assembly elections. In an oblique criticism of Pawan Kalyan, he said that even the tallest leaders have also faced humiliating defeat in the elections and these comments triggered furious response from Janasena leaders. They raised slogans against the TDP ally and resorted to sloganeering and ransacked the office furniture.
Varma is eyeing for the assembly ticket from Pithapuram Assembly constituency and in case Janasena leadership denies him the ticket as per seat-sharing formula, the TDP-Janasena alliance may collapse as the Janasena leader could resign from the party and may contest the Assembly elections as an independent candidate.
