Line Clear For Revanth Reddy To Become CM? No Rotational Formula, Mulls Congress

 - Sakshi Post

The deadlock over the next Chief Minister of Telangana is likely to end soon as the Congress's top leadership is trying to resolve the issues amicably. While Revanth Reddy is the front-runner for the CM post, Bhatti Vikramarka threw his hat in the ring evincing interest in becoming the next CM. Bhatti being a 'Dalit', senior leader of Congress, former leader of the opposition and also who had done Padayatra (walkathon) are the factors that are favouring him. According to reports, Bhatti Vikramarka is strongly backed by some seniors such as Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Currently, Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in-charge Manikrao Thakre and DK Shivakumar are holding discussions at Kharge's residence in Delhi on how to persuade Batti and co. The final decision is expected sometime today evening, said sources in the know. After the decision is made, DK Shivakumar to carry a sealed cover with the CM's name and it will be revealed at the CLP (Congress Legislature Party) meeting. Sources add that the name of the new CLP leader will be announced in front of the 64 MLAs. It is said that DK Shivakumar to make a single-statement on the new CM.

No To Rotational Formula

Some inside sources in the Congress share that Revanth's name is almost confirmed. Even though there is a delay in the announcement of the next Chief Minister of Telangana, there is no "confusion", add the sources. A source on anonymity said, "There is a delay, but there is no confusion." The source shares that the party's high command is in favour of Revanth Reddy for the CM post and his elevation as the CM is almost certain. It is learnt that there is "no rotational" formula or sharing of the CM post for a period.

It is also buzzed that there are no takers for the Speaker post in the Congress. The high command is holding talks with the likes of Sridhar Babu and others for this key post.

As per reports, Congress may announce the CM candidate today and the oath-taking may happen soon at the Raj Bhavan. In all likelihood, the line is clear for Revanth for the top post.

Meanwhile, the Congress top brass is busy with the ongoing Parliament session and its strategy to face the ruling BJP and NDA allies in this session, it is also busy introspecting about the Assembly election results which it lost. It can be noted that the Congress has failed to wrest power from the BJP in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh.
