Srikanth N Reddy, who gained recognition for his short films and served as a writer for films like Dohchay and Tuntari, is making his directorial debut with the film "Aadikeshava". The film stars Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Sreeleela in the lead roles. Touted to be a commercial action film laced with youthful romance, the film is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinema, respectively.
As the film releases on November 24, 2023, director Srikanth N Reddy interacts with the media. Here are excerpts from his candid conversation.
Why did you choose Aadikeshava for your debut film?
I initially planned to create an experimental action movie, but my friends advised against it at this juncture. Consequently, I decided to make a purely commercial film for my directorial debut.
Was Aadikeshava your initial choice for your debut?
Not exactly. While I had the idea for Aadikeshava, given its substantial budget, I doubted any producer would invest such a large amount for my debut. Initially, I considered making a small-budget comedy and discussed the concept with producer Benny. He liked the idea, and we were about to proceed when he unexpectedly inquired about any commercial subjects I had. That's when I narrated Aadikeshava to him.
How did you connect with Naga Vamsi and end up working with Sithara Entertainments?
Benny suggested I share the story with producer Naga Vamsi. Through Benny's introduction, I met Naga Vamsi, who liked the story. He immediately urged me to start working on the screenplay and recommended Vaisshnav Tej for the lead role.
How was it collaborating with Vaisshnav Tej?
Vaisshnav Tej is a dedicated and passionate actor. Despite being a debutant director, I had to make challenging decisions about shooting locations and schedules. Vaisshnav never questioned my choices and always emphasized focusing on the final output. His cooperation not only facilitated working with other senior artists but also ensured a smooth 100-day shoot.
The "Tube light fight" memes have gone viral. Are you aware?
While I provided ideas for the action sequences, the execution was entirely handled by the action choreographers. I'm aware of the "Tube light" memes and view them as part of the game.
What sets Vaisshnav Tej's character in Aadikeshava apart from other commercial movies?
I invested effort in crafting a story where the hero's character connects with the audience within the first 15 to 20 minutes. I believe Panja Vaisshnav Tej's character will resonate with viewers, and I'm confident that they will love him in this role.
How did you decide on casting Sreeleela as the heroine?
Producer Naga Vamsi suggested Sreeleela, and I trusted his judgment. Working with her confirmed the wisdom of his choice, as the pairing of Vaisshnav Tej and Sreeleela looked fresh and perfect for the roles. I am delighted to have collaborated with such a dedicated actress for my debut film.
How was your collaboration with GV Prakash Kumar for Aadikeshava?
GV Prakash Kumar is a consummate professional. From the moment he accepted the project until its completion, he remained open to suggestions and delivered outstanding work despite his busy schedule. His background music stands out in the film, and he provided popular songs as well.
What was your experience working with Sithara Entertainments?
To date, I am unaware of the budget or any financial details related to the film. Naga Vamsi advised me to concentrate on the final output rather than worry about budgetary concerns. He supported me in every way, appreciating the film after viewing it. Working with him was a calming experience, and I value it for a lifetime.
Why should people watch Aadikeshava?
Aadikeshava is a commercial movie that guarantees entertainment from the first frame to the last. Viewers have appreciated the film's unique aspects, and it has evoked emotional responses toward the climax. I believe it will be a fulfilling experience for audiences, delivering everything expected from a commercial entertainer.
