Former South Indian actress Mumtaz has opened up about her harrowing battle with a rare auto-immune disease. She admitted that the pain and mental anguish nearly drove her to take her own life.

In a recent interview, the 43-year-old star, known for her work in Telugu and Tamil films including hit songs in "Khushi" and "Attarintiki Daredi," described the excruciating physical and emotional toll of her condition.

"I could not even move my back, and the pain was unbearable," Mumtaz recounted. "I suffered for two years, and it took a toll on my mental health. I consulted many doctors but they could not tell what the problem was. After research, it was revealed that it was a disease that affected my auto-immune system. Due to the disease, it would hurt my joints. I was in hell as I could not stand or sit. I was on the verge of committing suicide, but my brother's support pulled me through," she said.

Mumtaz's revelations shed light on the hidden struggles faced by many celebrities, whose personal battles often remain shielded from the public eye, despite the glitz and glamour associated with their profession. The actress further shared that her suffering has made her re-evaluate her relationship with social media, urging fans to be more mindful and refrain from posting her glamorous photos. She stated that she no longer wishes to be associated with that image.

"I want to remove my erotic photos from social media, but that is not possible for me. So fans are requested not to post her glamorous photos on social media as much as possible," she pleaded.
