Wrestlers Protest: BRS MLC Kavitha Questions Centre’s Silence Over Sexual Harassment Issue
Hyderabad: Expressing her support for the protesting women wrestlers in New Delhi, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has demanded action against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has allegedly sexually harassed the sportswomen.
Taking to Twitter, the BRS leader, who is also the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Wednesday questioned the silence of the Centre on the issue. She said the government should intervene in the matter and ensure justice for the women wrestlers who brought laurels to the country in their respective fields of games.
“It is the hard work, dedication and patriotism of our women #Wrestlers that showed this talent of India to the world. The Government of India must think in the interest of the country in these 5 days. Even after a serious charge like POCSO, the accused is out in public, justice is no way can be denied to the victim, and the ongoing brutality with these gold medal awarded women players is absolutely reprehensible. The Government must know that the entire country wants an answer and the world is watching. ACT NOW,” Kavitha tweeted.
