What's Stopping Congress From Announcing Revanth Reddy as New Chief Minister?
Congress party, which has been out of power for a long time, finally resurged and bounced back in Telangana. After forming the Telangana state, this is the first time, people gave the mandate to the Congress. The grand old party comfortably crossed the magic figure and thus won 64 seats on its own. While initial reports had it that TPCC chief Revanth Reddy would be announced as the Chief Minister and CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka would be made the Deputy Chief Minister, it seems that things are not falling in line as expected.
A section of senior leaders in Congress seems to be not happy with this decision to elevate Revanth Reddy as the next CM. Some leaders are voicing out their opinions against this move and reportedly conveyed their dissent to the Congress high command. It is rumoured that the section of leaders ganged up and held a meeting against Revanth Reddy in a private hotel. None other than Bhatti Vikramarka too publicly expressed interest in becoming the CM. In fact, he stated that he had done Padayatra (walkathon) for the party's victory.
With this, Congress has decided to convince all the stakeholders and get a unanimous decision before going to form the next government. As part of it, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting is being convened where the opinions of various MLAs are being taken.
Karnataka Deputy CM and senior leader DK Shivakumar is overseeing all these aspects. The top brass of the Congress has tasked Shivakumar with this. The party has senior leaders like Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Komatireddy brothers, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Jana Reddy, Shabbir Ali and the list goes on. Amidst this, speculations are rife about what is stopping Congress from announcing Revanth Reddy as the new Chief Minister and what is brewing in the Congress. Some reports have it that the Congress may make a single-sentence statement on the new Chief Minister.
So, the latest happenings within the Congress are this just a storm in a teacup or more to this? Let's wait and watch.
