Warangal Muslim Woman Performs Last Rites Of A Hindu Elderly Man

An elderly man who was living in an orphanage breathed his last due to cardiac arrest on Friday. A Muslim woman Yakubi who runs the orphanage performed the last rites of the man defying traditions. This incident took place in Kazipet of Warangal Urban district.

Komandla Veeraswamy and Shobha who hails from Upparapalli, Chennaraopeta Mandal, Warangal Rural district have no children and they have left with no property. Yakubi who runs, Sahrudaya Orphanage in Kazipet allowed the elderly couple to stay in the orphanage and they have been with Yakubi since 2017.  

Veeraswamy died of a heart attack on Friday. Yakubi came forward and performed the last rites for Veeraswamy according to Hindu traditions. She carried the pot on her shoulder and lit the funeral pyre. The locals have been praising Yakubi for her act.

A few years ago, Yakubi also performed the last rites of a man who died due to illness. The family members of the deceased refused to perform their duties, so she came forward and performed the last rites.
