Warangal: High Drama Unfolds as Aroori Ramesh Decides to Quit BRS
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, dramatic political developments unfolded at BRS leader Aroori Ramesh when he announced his decision to quit the party and join the BJP.
Initially, Ramesh decided to leave BRS, but the party's high command intervened and promised to give him the Warangal MP ticket in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Telangana.
Three days ago, Aroori announced that he was not leaving the BRS. But in the meantime, he changed his mind again. On Tuesday, Aroori reportedly held a meeting with senior BJP leader Amit Shah and then took a firm decision to join the saffron party. As Ramesh was all set to hold a press conference in Hanamkonda on Wednesday morning and formally resign from the BRS party, on the instructions of the BRS high command, former minister Errabelli Dayakar rushed to Ramesh's house and took him in his car to some unknown location.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader Sitaram Naik has strongly reacted to the latest political development in Warangal. Criticising the the BRS leadership, he said the opposition party should allow Ramesh to make his own decision. He also questioned the BRS's treatment of Dalits and alleged injustice done to Ramesh in the past.
Ramesh has represented the Wardhannapet constituency twice on BRS ticket. He is seen as a strong contender for the Warangal SC reserved Lok Sabha seat. BJP is reportedly trying to poach the BRS leader in order to increase its Lok Sabha seats tally in the Telugu state. Meanwhile, KCR is taking stock of the rapidly changing political situation with the party leaders of Warangal unit.
