Turn Municipalities in Telangana into Model Towns, KTR tells Officials

MA&UD Minister KTR held a video conference with the Additional Collectors (Local Bodies), Mayors, Chairpersons and Municipal Commissioners today.

During the meeting, Minister KTR asked the officials to work towards transforming municipalities in the State into model towns.

Minister KTR stated that the Government of Telangana has initiated Palle Pragathi and Pattana Pragathi programs to develop the infrastructure in the Municipalities and Corporations in the State. He also mentioned that Telangana Government is the only government in the country which is providing special funds to the municipalities on a monthly basis for the development works taken up under the program. 

“Let's work towards achieving all the goals set under these ambitious programs,” said KTR. In this ongoing process, municipalities of Telangana State will get recognition at national level," he added. 

Minister KTR mentioned about the awards which were earlier bagged by the municipalities for their tremendous work under Pattana Pragathi program. 

In addition to the Pattana Pragathi program, the State Government has set up TUFIDC and is allocating budgets to develop infrastructure in the municipalities, the Minister said. 

Minister instructed the public representatives and officials to take additional care towards the sanitation levels, drinking water facilities, electricity and green cover increase in the municipalities. 

He also asked the public representatives and officials to take citizens into confidence as municipal administration works directly benefit the people. 

Complete works of integrated veg and non veg markets and ensure all the pending works are completed at a faster pace, he said. 

No other government in the country has taken up work at municipalities with this level of seriousness and dedication. We have appointed an official of the rank of a Collector to each of these local bodies, he added.  

Minister KTR directed the Additional Collectors to take up surprise inspections in the municipalities and look at the progress of the works. Ensure there is a healthy competition between the municipalities when it comes to development and sanitation works. 

Minister KTR appreciated the municipal officials and public representatives of Karimnagar and Illandu for taking up innovative ways in the works. 

Special Chief Secretary, MAUD Dept. Arvind Kumar, CDMA Director Satyanarayana were also present in the meeting.
