Tension In Osmania Varsity As Police Foil Congress Fact-Finding Bid
HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed in Osmania University on Sunday after a team of Telangana Congress leaders was prevented by the police from visiting the campus.
Trouble broke out after Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, V Hanumantha Rao, Vamshi Chand Reddy, and several others descended on the university campus for a fact-finding visit. Alleging that the lands of Osmania University have encroached, they want to proceed with their visit to inspect them.
The Congress leaders were halted in their stride by a posse of policemen who were deployed there for this purpose. A heated argument ensued as senior leader V Hanumantha Rao took serious exception to the police preventing their visit.
The TPCC, which is on a mission to expose the alleged failures of the TRS government, planned this fact-finding visit to OU to elicit more information on the alleged encroachment of varsity lands.
The Telangana Congress wing has already formed four committees comprising senior leaders to dig into the alleged irregularities in various sectors including finance, education, new agricultural policy, and pending irrigation projects besides other issues.
