Telangana Reports First Covid Death? Telangana Health Minister Responds
Hyderabad: Telangana reported 10 new infections and two deaths linked to Covid-19 JN.1 variant on Monday. Of these, nine cases were recorded in Hyderabad while one case was from Karimnagar.
According to a health department bulletin, the total number of active cases in the state rose to 55. In Hyderabad alone, 45 persons are getting treatment for Covid or kept in isolation. Continuing its vigil over the spread of a new strain of Coronavirus, the medical teams tested a total of 989 samples yesterday and reports of 12 are pending.
As per reports, two Covid patients succumbed to infection while undergoing treatment at the state-run Osmania Hospital here on Tuesday. Two junior doctors were also reportedly confirmed positive in the hospital. The deceased persons were aged 60 and 40.
As the news of Covid death is being widely shared on social media, the administration of Osmania Hospital has dismissed the claims of two fatalities due to the virus at the hospital. The hospital authorities have asserted that no Covid-related fatality was recorded at the hospital. They added that currently three Covid positive patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital and their condition is stable.
Meanwhile, the state health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has responded to the rumours of Covid-related death in Telangana. He said there is no truth in the Covid-linked fatality at the Osmania Hospital. The minister has convened a meeting with the officials of the health ministry to review the Covid-19 situation in the state.
