Telangana: The Telangana Police Department has taken a crucial decision at a time when cybercrime is on the rise. The DGP Mahender Reddy has announced that cyber warriors would be deployed in every police station.

As the number of cybercrimes is increasing day by day Telangana Police Department has taken a key decision. DGP Mahender Reddy said that steps are being taken to set up special cyber warrior units in all police stations across the state with the aim of curbing cybercrime. This will allow cybercrime to be monitored locally.

The DGP on Monday, (February 22nd) held a review meeting with police commissioners and district SPs via video conference. Speaking on the occasion, he said that with the increase in the use of technology, the number of cybercrimes has increased at the same rate. To keep a check on the cyber crimes, the Cyber Warrior mechanism or unit will be set up in all police stations in the state.

The DGP said that by doing so, it would be possible to monitor cyber cases locally. He launched the necessary technical training and awareness program through a video conference on Monday. The DGP said special training would be imparted online to police personnel on cybercrime control three hours a day, seven days a week.

"We are already following 17 guidelines for day-to-day duty of police officers in all police stations in the state. Prevention of cybercrime will henceforth be Article 18. The DGP opined that the investigation of cases would be completed expeditiously if the cyber warriors provided assistance to the officers investigating common crimes.
