Telangana Guv Tweets About Dilapidated Condition of Osmania Hospital, Harish Rao Reacts

 - Sakshi Post

The ruling Bharath Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has reacted sharply to the tweet made by the Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on the condition of Osmania General Hospital (OGH), Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, the Governor said she was ‘concerned to see the dilapidated condition of the century old prestigious Osmania General Hospital. She also tagged a representation made by the ‘Joint Association for New OGH’ to the Director of Medical Education.

"Concerned to see the dilapidated condition of the century old prestigious #OsmaniaGeneralHospital. Pride of this citadel of learning & healing must be restored soon," the Governor tweeted.

The Health Minister and BRS leader Harish Rao said the Governor overlooked the strides made by the state government in the health sector and is desperate to find fault. He asked why Soundararajan appreciated the BRS government’s initiative to conduct eye testing for 1.62 crore people. The minister added that the KCR government  announced Rs 200 crore for the construction of a new building for the OGH back in 2015. However, the matter hit a roadblock due to some legal issues.

Harish Rao also said the Governor ignored the government’s recent efforts in adding more beds to state-owned Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences. He alleged that Soundararajan failed to recognise the fact that the Telangana state has succeeded in bringing down the maternal mortality rate to just 43 per 1 lakh live births which was endorsed by the NITI Aayog.

The row over the condition of Osmania General Hospital is the latest in a series of controversies between the Governor and the BRS government. Earlier, Soundararajan complained that the KCR government is not following the protocol with regard to her office while the government has expressed reservations over her style of functioning.
