Telangana Dalit Bandhu First Step Towards Eradication of Economic, Social Inequalities: KCR

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, on Sunday, claimed that Dalit Bandhu was only the first scheme towards the empowerment of Dalits. He further announced several more initiatives taken to eradicate economic and social inequalities in the country.

Chief Minister said that extending support to the weaker sections was the main responsibility of civilised society and the basic duty of democratic governments.

“Dalit Bandhu was designed based on the ideologies of Mahatma Jyothi Rao Phule and Dr BR Ambedkar- to bring new light into the lives of Dalits,” K Chandrashekhar Rao said.

Here are some key announcements made by the Chief Minister on Sunday:

  • The waiver of crops loans up to Rs 50,00 will start from Monday which benefits over six lakh farmers in the state before August 31.
  • Nethannaku Bima scheme will be launched soon to provide Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for weavers depending on the textile industry in the State.
  • The State government was moving ahead with a broad vision of ensuring justice to every community in the State in a planned manner.
  • A special comprehensive policy was already in place to monitor the beneficiaries who received the Telangana Bandhu scheme.
  • A Dalit Protection Fund will also be created with contributions from both beneficiaries and the government to support beneficiaries in case of any setbacks in businesses.

KCR stated that the Dalit Bandhu scheme would cover all Dalit families in the Huzurabad constituency and it would be implemented partially in other constituencies of the State simultaneously.

The Chief Minister asserted that the State government strove hard for the development of downtrodden sections since the formation of Telangana. He added that the government will continue to provide rice, pensions and other facilities through ration cards.
