Seven Dead: Heavy Rain Causes Collapse of Wall in Hyderabad's Bachupally

 - Sakshi Post

The city of Hyderabad witnessed heavy showers starting yesterday evening. Heavy waterlogging and the fall of large branches of trees resulted in traffic snarls. A tragedy took place in the suburb of Bachupally as a wall crashed resulting in the death of seven people.

A 30 ft to 40ft height boundary wall adjacent to the sheds of construction workers came crashing down with the heavy rain, fatally taking the lives of seven workers, including a small girl. The deceased were migrant workers from the north, specifically from the parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh who were taking refuge in their designated shed in the Renuka Yellama Colony where they were working at a construction site.

The Disaster Response team was called, which recovered the bodies of the deceased and the injured from the rubble. The injured were admitted to Gandhi Hospital and are now out of danger.

Under the orders of Chief Minister Mr Revanth Reddy, the Balanagar zone DSP looked into this case, providing support to the injured and facilitating an inquiry into the construction of the poorly constructed boundary wall and the builder behind it. A five-storied residential building was being constructed by the builder for which the boundary wall was built.
