Quthbullapur MLA KP Vivekananda Goud, Family Test Positive For COVID-19
HYDERABAD: One more MLA of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, July 18. Quthbullapur MLA KP Vivekananda Goud along with his wife Sowjanya and son Vidhat have tested positive for coronavirus, said Medchal district medical and health officer Anand on Sunday, July 19.
According to reports, the MLA was suffering from mild symptoms of COVID-19 for the past few days. His test result came out on Saturday.
Doctors advised the MLA to undergo home quarantine for 14 days. They have also advised all the primary and secondary contacts of the TRS MLA and their family to get tested for COVID-19 and to undergo 14-day home quarantine.
With this, the MLA's kin are being treated in different rooms of their residence.
Speaking to Sakshi over phone, the MLA said that he was undergoing home quarantine for 14 days as per the doctor's instructions and advised the people to follow all precautionary measures, including wearing masks and to regularly wash and sanitise the hands and to maintain physical distance.
Along with Quthbullapur MLA, three more ruling party MLAs tested positive for the virus so far. Jangaon MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, Nizamabad Urban MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta and Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan contracted the virus. Earlier, Minister Mahmood Ali and deputy speaker Padmarao were also infected with COVID-19.
Telangana has reported 1,284 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with this the total number of coronavirus cases in the state rose to 45,077. Six deaths have been reported, taking the total deaths due to the virus to 415 across the state.
Out of the cases reported on Sunday, GHMC reported the highest with 557 cases, followed by Rangareddy with 111 new cases and 87 cases reported in Medchal.
A total of 32,438 patients were cured and discharged from hospitals. Currently, there are 12,224 active cases in the state.
