No Road, No Vote: Locals in Few Telangana Villages Boycott Elections

Hyderabad: Even as polling for Telangana Assembly elections is progressing at a brisk, however, some constituencies in the state have recorded negligible voting so far because the people have boycotted the polling on Thursday. Girijan villagers have claimed that to mark their protest against poor infrastructure in the region, they have boycotted the polling.
Locals at Satyampet village in Sathupalli mandal of Khammam district claimed that the elected representatives did not bother about the inconveniences faced by them while the voters of two villages in the Wyra Assembly constituency have blamed the lack of basic facilities for their decision to boycott the elections.
Lack of basic infrastructure
The villagers of Kotha Medepalle in Enkoor mandal said the village has no proper roads and no potable water, They said the legislators have turned a blind eye to their problems and they are seeking a redressal of their problems for the last two decades.
The residents of Rajualpalem village of Enkoor mandal staged a dharna to highlight their civic problems. They asserted that they will keep boycotting the elections until the road is built in their village.
No money, no vote
In Mahabubabad, the voters were seen demanding money to exercise their franchise in the Telangana assembly elections. The voters of SC colony in Santulal Podu village of Bayyaram mandal said ‘no money… no vote’. The polling booth in the area has recorded zero vote till afternoon.

In Kothapalli village of Bazar Hathnur mandal in Adilabad district, the villagers said they are boycotting the elections because the elected representatives have ignored the civic development in their village. The election officials are trying to convince the villagers to come out and cast their vote to see development in future.
No village ahead, nol vote
While the voters of Varipet in Kazipet mandal of Bellampalli constituency are boycotting the elections because the administration has failed to appoint a village head (Gram Panchayat) to run the village affairs. Till 11 am, only 20 voters had exercised their franchise.
