Nizamabad Man Dies After Electric Scooter Battery Explodes

In a very tragic incident, a man died after the EV battery explosion. The incident took place in Nizamabad, Telangana. According to the police, a man was killed and two others injured when the detached battery of an electric scooter exploded while it was being charged. The elderly man and others injured were admitted to a private hospital in Nizamabad but the octogenarian died while he was shifting to Hyderabad for better treatment.

The deceased was identified as Ramaswamy aged about 80 years and he was sleeping in the room in which the battery was being charged. He is the father of B Prakash a tailor, the owner of the electric two wheeler. 

A case was registered against the electric vehicle company under sections 304-A and 337. Electric Scooter manufacturer expressed deep grief over the alleged explosion of a battery of the scooter which resulted in the death of the old man. The company is also checking the details of the sale of the vehicle.

The Company in a statement said, "The vehicles and batteries therein shall undergo a thorough check for their health. We shall inspect the battery for any imbalance issues and shall calibrate through our device BaTRics Faraday (an AI-based hardware which can automatically identify and repair defects in Li-Ion batteries). Additionally, the BMS and charger calibration shall be carried out as required."
