Nizamabad: Goats Arrested, Fined For Eating Plants Meant For Haritha Haaram
Telangana: The Telangana government started the Haritha Haaram- a green cover initiative and initiated a plant cultivation drive to raise saplings through various methods. Millions of plants are being raised in this manner for the drive to be planted across the State. Nizamabad district officials are also working hard to conserve plants in accordance with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao's vision.
As per reports plants on the premises of Bodhan Municipality in Nizamabad District were eaten up by goats, prompting the authorities to impose a fine on the owner. This was despite the appropriate measures taken to protect the plants.
Three goats that belonged to one Taslim Begum were caught grazing and eating the plants in the municipal grounds. The Rajalingam breed goats were tied up and arrested by the caretakers after the matter was brought to the Municipal Commissioner's notice.
The owner was summoned and each goat was fined Rs 500. After the owner paid the Rs 1,500 fine, the goats were released.
The Commissioner urged everyone to help with the Haritha Haaram upkeep. Despite the Government levying penalties, several people are flouting rules and allowing their cattle to graze in these places designated for the Haritha Haaram green initiative and causing losses for the Horticulture Department.
