Nizamabad : ACB Traps Telangana Varsity VC in Rs 50,000 Graft Case

Hyderabad: Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Telangana University, Nizamabad was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 on Saturday. The accused, identified as Dachepalli Ravinder, however, is still not arrested.  

Speaking to Sakshi, the ACB DSP Sudarshan said Ravinder was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe at his residence in Tarnaka. He said the bribe amount of Rs 50,000 was recovered from the wardrobe kept in the master bedroom of the accused person and his hands tested positive in phenolphthalein test. 

The VC had demanded a bribe from the complainant Dasari Shankar for allotting the examination centre to his Sri Shirdi Sai Educational Society college in Armoor Town of Nizamabad. Acting on Shankar’s complaint, the ACB team raided Ravinder’s residence and tapped him. 

The police official said Ravinder has abused his position to gain an unfair advantage. The accused will be arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases.
