KCR's First Reaction on Daughter Kavitha's Arrest
Hyderabad: Former Telangana chief minister and Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has reacted for the first time to the arrest of his daughter and MLC K Kavitha in the money laundering case.
Terming the Delhi excise policy case, KCR claimed that the BJP-led Central government’s move is a vindictive misuse of central agencies to target the opposition leaders.
The BRS chief said the BJP is practising the politics of vengeance as their government had attempted to arrest their national general secretary BL Santosh over his party's alleged attempts to ‘buy’ four MLAs from TRS (now BRS). And, this is the reason why Kavitha was arrested, he added.
KCR alleged that (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi is a coward who was afraid of BRS strength (111 MLAs) in Telangana Assembly. He also said that the BJP would not take rest until it topples the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government in Telangana. Nearly 20 Congress MLAs will cross over to the BRS soon, KCR added.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is also probing a case of money laundering related to the alleged liquor policy scam in the national capital, arrested Kavitha on March 15 after searches at her residence in Hyderabad.
It has been claimed that Kavitha was involved in establishing the money laundering ecosystem, i.e., M/s Indo Spirits, through her proxy, which generated proceeds of crime worth Rs 192.8 crore.
