Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao came under sharp attack from the Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for not attending the eighth Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog in the national capital on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the meeting being organised on the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Role of Team India.

Chief ministers of other states like West Bengal, Delhi and Punjab followed suit and skipped the NITI Aayog meeting. These state governments did not send their representatives to the meeting as the invitation was only for the chief ministers.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Hyderabad today, Kishan Reddy blamed KCR for the ‘significant loss’ incurred by the Telangana state with his absence at the meeting.

He said the BRS government is pushing the state into debt and asked the chief minister to be prepared for discussions over central aid to Telangana state. He further said the state had an annual interest payment of Rs 20,000 crores on old debts with a total debt of Rs 3.50 lakh crores  based on the state government’s calculations.
