Junior Docs Call Off Strike after Talks with Telangana Govt

Hyderabad: Telangana Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) is reconsidering its decision to go on strike over the pending demands. Days after the strike call, the state government had invited the representatives of JUDA for talks. 

After meeting with the Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and officials from the Director of Medical Education (DME), the representatives of JUDA told reporters here that the talks with the government were successful as the Health Minister has given fresh assurances to them. They said the government has responded positively to their list of demands and they will soon make a statement on their proposed strike from today..

The health minister assured the junior doctors that the government will create a green channel mechanism to release the stipend funds within the first 15 days of the month. He also said the government will look into their demands for proper hostel facilities and a new building will be constructed for them at the Osmania General hospital. The minister added that the hostel facilities will be provided as per the National Medical Council guidelines. 

Upset with the government, the junior doctors of Telangana had threatened to boycott the OPD and other duties at the government-run hospitals citing severe hardships due to the non-receipt of pending stipends. They are demanding an early resolution of their pending demands and issues.
