IPL 2021: Online Cricket Betting Racket Busted In Neredmet

The Indian Premier League is one of the most-watched cricket tournaments across the globe. It is known that every IPL season a huge amount of money changes hands in the form of betting even though it is banned. 

In the latest development, the Malkajgiri Police Special Operations team, in collaboration with the Neredmet Police, busted an online cricket betting racket in Neredmet on Saturday.

According to police, gamblers were betting on the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals and accepted online bets and money via e-transactions. Police seized Rs 7.2 lakh and 10 mobile phones from them

M Sai Kumar (35), an event organizer and a bookie from Old Safilguda, P Kishore Babu (36), an assistant bookie and punter from Tenali in Andhra Pradesh, and K Sandeep (26), an event manager and punter from Sainathapuram were arrested.

Sai Kumar, who has a habit of betting on cricket and horse racing through mobile phone apps, formed a group and began organizing online cricket betting from a rented location, said police. The police raided the location after receiving a tip-off. The suspects were turned over to the Neredmet police department for further investigation.
