Hyderabad: Mass Yoga Performance by 3,000 Divyangjan Enters Several Books of Records
Hyderabad: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a record was set in Hyderabad when as many as 3,000 persons with disabilities (PWD) Wednesday. Across the nation, the Central government organised mass yoga performance by Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) which saw a participation from 20,000 persons with disabilities, an official release said.
In Hyderabad alone, 3,000 persons with disabilities took part in the yoga programme. The persons with disabilities included those with visual impairment, hearing impairment, intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism.
The event has secured recognition from International World Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for the maximum number of Divyangjan performing mass yoga, the release added. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar attended the event as the chief guest.

The yoga event was organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) in coordination with National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Secunderabad at the Kanha Wellness Centre here.
