Here’s Why Telangana Parents Are Not Willing To Send Children To Schools

Telangana government has reopened schools after a long gap. However, not many students had turned up on the first day. As per the education department officials, only 22 per cent of students attended the schools and colleges on September 1st.

Out of the total 52,22,174 students enrolled in the government and private sector, only 11,37,095 students attended schools.

The Telangana High Court directed the schools that no child in any class be compelled by the school management to physically attend the classes if parents were not willing to send them. However, some students came to schools wearing masks, used hand sanitizers, and attended classes.

Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy inspected a school in Hyderabad and instructed the students to follow Covid-19 protocols and asked the teachers and other staff to ensure that all precautions are followed to contain the spread of the virus. She added that school children should be supervised more as college students will have a better awareness.

Sabitha Indra Reddy further said that out of 60 lakh children that attended schools from 1^st to 12^th standards in Telangana, more than 29 lakh students are from government institutions.
