GHMC Releases Citizen’s Charter, Time Frame for Civic Services

 - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The civic services provided by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will now have a long elusive time frame for completing works. Giving a fillip to the civic works, the GHMC on Tuesday released a Citizen’s Charter which is aimed at ensuring prompt attention to various civic-related grievances.

The Citizen’s Charter, which will be displayed at all 150 ward offices in Hyderabad,  lists 17 civic services along with the time frames for resolving civic complaints. The charter also displays the rank of staff or official who will be dealing with the citizen complaints.

As per the charter, civic works such as filling potholes, replacing damaged or missing catchpits, removing accumulated roadside silt, removal of carcasses of animals, repair of streetlights and anti-larval operations  should be resolved within 24 hours.

While the time frame varies for services like removal of stagnant water, blockages of storm water drains (48 hours) and repairing footpaths (72 hours). Similarly, getting licenses for pet dogs or issuing ID cards to people with disabilities or senior citizens will take longer like a week or a fortnight.

Last week, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), KT Rama Rao had said that the civic body would soon bring out a Citizen’s Charter. The minister will inaugurate the 150 Ward Offices of the GHMC on June 16, 2023.
