First Day of Telangana Assembly: BJP Boycotts, Complains To Governor
On the very first day of the third Legislative Assembly of Telangana, the BJP has boycotted. BJP state president Kishan Reddy expressed dissatisfaction over the appointment of AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi as the Protem Speaker. BJP leaders aver that the house has more senior MLAs than Akbaruddin Owaisi. BJP leaders allege that this is against the tradition of the Assembly. Meanwhile, a formal complaint has been made to the Governor by the BJP MLAs.
Earlier, Akbaruddin Owaisi took oath. The Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered his oath. CM Revanth Reddy and former Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy accompanied him.
Meanwhile, the newly-elected MLAs have taken oath in the Assembly. Protem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi administered their oath in the house. 51 new MLAs have made it to the Assembly. BRS MLAs too took oath. Notably, former CM KCR has been unanimously elected as the BRS Legislature Party leader. He is likely to be the opposition leader.
