Duck Out In Hyderabad: Why 'Settlers' Gave 'Hand' To Congress?

Greater Hyderabad region has a considerable number of 'settler' voters. The number is large and a deciding factor in constituencies such as Kukatpally, Serlingampally, Jubilee Hills, LB Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, Khairatabad and to an extent in Sanath Nagar, Secunderabad. However, all these constituencies witnessed KCR-led BRS winning with a bumper majority.

In fact, this is the main reason BJP has an electoral alliance with Pawan Kalyan's Janasena party and even allocated 8 key constituencies. Had BJP fielded its candidates directly into these constituencies, it would have gained more vote share in these constituencies. Pawan's Janasena secured deposit in just one out of the eight Assembly constituencies it had contested. 

If one closely observes the results of Greater Hyderabad Assembly seats, it is conspicuous that 'Settlers' from the Andhra region have outrightly rejected the Congress party that is confined to zero in the Hyderabad district.

While TDP and its leaders boasted that TDP was out of the fray and supported the Congress party in these elections, they are caught off-guard as there is no answer from them on why Congress became duck-out in Hyderabad.

Chandrababu Arrest In Skill Development Scam - Zero Impact On Andhra Settlers Votes

During the election campaign, TDP leaders in Andhra claimed that the Settlers would take "revenge" against the BRS over Chandrababu Naidu's arrest in the Skill Development Scam. As minister KTR had commented against the protests in metro rail and the ORR areas, AP TDP had proclaimed that the settlers would vote against the BRS.

However, it is the total opposite. Looks like, the settlers took revenge against the Congress and voted BRS in these constituencies. Thus, BRS won with a bumper majority in the constituencies where the settler voters are in large numbers. Political analysts state that TDP as well as the Congress (reportedly backed by TDP) have failed to gain the trust of 'settlers' in the Hyderabad area.

So, the 'Goebbels' propaganda that the Andhra voters were supporting the TDP proved to be false with the Telangana Assembly election results favouring the BRS in these constituencies.
