Congress Chief Poll: Mallikarjun Kharge Lands in Hyderabad, Seeks Support for His Candidature

Hyderabad: Days after Congress Presidential candidate Shashi Tharoor’s campaign in Hyderabad, the AICC Presidential candidate Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajya Sabha MP on Saturday landed at the Begumpet Airport to campaign for the party’s Presidential election. The senior Congress leader was received by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A Revanth Reddy and other party leaders. 

From the airport, the Congress MP drove to Gandhi Bhavan and interacted with the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee representatives at the state unit’s headquarters. He sought the support of Telangana Congress in the party chief election. It may be noted here that the election to elect the next Congress President will be held on October 17.

Addressing a press conference, the Presidential candidate Kharge said the 138 years old Congress respects democracy and hence party candidates are contesting the elections, however, these kind of elections were not conducted in the BJP’s history. 

He alleged that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are destroying the democracy in the country. The Congress leader slammed the NDA government for allegedly misusing the central investigative agencies against the Opposition leaders.
