BRS Tense as Most Nominations Filed in Gajwel and Kamareddy Constituencies
Hyderabad: The filing of nominations for the November 30 state Assembly polls ended on November 10. The scrutiny of submitted nominations will begin on Monday and the date for withdrawal of nominations is November 15.
In these elections, chief minister and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) has filed nominations from Gajwel and Kamareddy assembly constituencies. However, the road is not smooth for the chief minister.
In Gajwel, the electoral officer has received a total of 154 nominations from 145 candidates while in Kamareddy, more than 100 candidates have filed their nomination papers against KCR, who is seeking a re-elections for a third consecutive term. Notably, BJP leader Eatala Rajender is contesting the elections from Gajwel segment.
According to reports, the majority of nominations have come from Gajwel farmers who have been demanding the reopening of Nizam Deccan Sugars in the Nizamabad district. Over 30 nominations were filed by unemployed youth and family members of youth who sacrificed their lives during the Telangana movement. It is reported that the BRS party leadership is requesting the independent candidates to withdraw their nominations.
A total of 4,798 candidates have filed their nominations for the 119-member Assembly elections. About half of the candidatures were filed on November 10, which was the last day for filing of nomination papers.
