Bandi Sanjay Demands Explanation from KCR Over Medigadda Barrage Issue

 - Sakshi Post

Karimnagar: The Opposition is relentlessly attacking the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the reported sinking of a portion of the Medigadda (Laxmi) barrage of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar said KCR, who termed the multi-purpose irrigation project as an engineering marvel, should share details of the construction of the project with the people. Speaking to reporters here on Monday, the former Telangana BJP chief said earlier Kaleshwaram Bahubali motor pumps were submerged in the floodwaters and now the project has sunk.

Taking a swipe at KCR for demanding national project status for Kaleshwaram, Bandi Sanjay said if the Centre had accorded national status to KLIP, the Telugu state would have become a laughing stock in the country.

Similarly, another BJP leader Eatala Rajender came down heavily on the BRS government for not granting permission to him to visit the Medigadda barrage and assess the damage to the project. He questioned the imposition of Section 144 near the barrage. He called there were engineering flaws in the construction of the project. Blaming KCR for the sinking of Medigadda barrage, the BJP leader accused the chief minister of misappropriation of thousands of crores of rupees in the name of construction of Kaleshwaram project.

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has sent an expert committee to Telangana to conduct a probe on the sinking of a portion of the Medigadda (Laxmi) barrage. A six-member committee chaired by National Dam Safety Authority chairman Anil Jain will visit the barrage in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. According to the order of the Ministry, pillars numbering 15 to 20 of the sixth to eighth blocks of the barrage caved in on the night of October 21 after pillar number 20 of Block 7 of the barrage had partially sunk. .
