Approach High Command If There is a Problem: Digvijaya Singh to TPCC Leaders
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Friday addressed a press meet in Hyderabad after he held meetings with party leaders on Thursday over the crisis in the state party unit. Some senior leaders complained that those who joined the party recently got prominence at the cost of "original leaders and activists".
Speaking to reporters, Singh said, ''Discipline in the party is of utmost importance. It's fair to have ambition but I urge all senior Congress leaders to not talk outside and whatever that has to be said, should be addressed internally and the leadership should be approached. There is no need to make allegations and counter allegations in the media. Congress leadership has decided that this should not be repeated and if it is repeated, then no matter how senior the leader is, they will be investigated. I met all the leaders yesterday and listened to everyone. We will find a solution to this.''
He further said, ''There is anti-incumbency in Telangana against BRS and BJP. Congress party has to be united to take advantage of this anti-incumbency. Unity is essential and through unity we will defeat the corrupt parties.''
Hitting out at KCR, he said, ''Telangana state could not have been created without Congress. We promised it in 2003 and then we fulfilled it in 2014. Nepotism and corruption are rampant in the state. What is the relation between BJP and BRS? Why does BRS support all BJP's bills in parliament? Support on the floor of the house and then fight with them outside. This is their strategy,'' he said.
The Congress in Telangana has been hit by internal feud with some senior leaders alleging that those who "migrated" to Congress from other parties got prominence in party posts.
More than 10 leaders had resigned from their PCC posts in response to these remarks.
