Akbaruddin Owaisi Booked for Threatening Cop on Reminding Poll Code Norms
Hyderabad: A case of violation of poll code has been booked against the AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi after he openly threatened a police officer on Tuesday. The video of MIM leader reprimanding the police official is going viral on social media.
The incident unfolded during a political rally of MIM when Chandrayangutta MLA was giving a speech at Lalitabagh area of Hyderabad last evening. The police officer asked the MIM legislator to follow the model code of conduct and finish his speech as he was exceeding the time.
Visibly irritated, Akbaruddin asked the police officer to leave the place as he still has five minutes and he will finish his speech soon.
“Do you think that after facing knives and bullets, I got weak, still there's lots of courage in me. Five minutes are left and I'll address five minutes, no one can stop me. If I give a signal then you'll have to run, shall we make him run? This is what I'm saying, they come like this to weaken us,” Akbaruddin said.
It’s worth mentioning here that the model code of conduct is in force in poll-bound Telangana and as per the norms, the political rallies or events should not exceed 10 pm.
Meanwhile, the Telangana BJP has reacted sharply to the speech of the MIM leader. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the saffron party said “with support of Congress and BRS, AIMIM has become a criminal enterprise which has kept the old city deprived and crime ridden” and shared the video of MIM leader's speech.
Addressing decades of neglect and crime in the old city is crucial. The commitment to clean up the mess and take action against any criminal enterprise is a needed step in the right direction.@BJP4India @BJP4Telangana https://t.co/YXJuXIY20Q
