Fall Of TDP In Telangana: From Hero To Zero In Father & Son's Leadership
Chandrababu Naidu often proclaims himself as "visionary" leader. His "vision" for Telugu Desam Party is obvious - deathknell for party. In Telangana, Telugu Desam Party is totally routed. Telangana was TDP's bastion. Ever since party was founded by late NT Ramarao in 1982, Telugu Desam Party garnered massive following in the Telangana region. The abolition of Patel-Patwari system, 1 kg rice per Rs 2 and other reformary decisions by NT Ramarao had left indelible mark on the people who owned the party.
Lack of dynamic leadership and Naidu's "Rendu Kalla" (Two-Eyes) philosophy has given so much scope for the TRS to grow. Naidu had even formed alliance with TRS and he supported and opposed Telangana as per his political whims and fancies. All these have pushed the people of Telangana (often soft) to hate Chandrababu and TDP. A political acumen KCR has masterfully played his tactics and optimally used the situations to TRS (now BRS) advanage. Chandrababu getting caught in the vote-for-note scandal is the heights of TDP's downfall in Telangana. Naidu fled the Telangana state following this.
In the latest confirmation, 'Chinna' Babu Lokesh stated that TDP would not be contesting the Telangana Assembly polls. He stated that the party can't afford contesting the polls in Telangana. It is buzzed that Telangana TDP may have to support the BJP as part of the "secret pact". The decision not contest polls in Telangana has dashed the hopes of the party seniors like Kasani Gnaneswar and scores of party cadre. This is a huge shocker to the party leaders who had invested emotion, time and money so far to run the party. While father and son have selfishly "killed" TDP, its leaders have eventually moved to other parties for greener pastures.
Now that Chandrababu is arrested in Skill Development Scam, beleaguered TDP is struggling in Andhra Pradesh as well. It is banking on Janasena Party which had won only 1 Assembly seat in the last general election. Chandrababu and Lokesh's failing leadership is drawing hatred from even hard-core TDP fans.
As TDP has become zero in Telangana, it also lacks the muscle in AP. Political analysts openly opine that TDP is on a downward spiral. All these combinely making TDP a sinking ship.
