Ravi Shastri to Step Down as Team India Coach Post T20 World Cup?

 - Sakshi Post

Ravi Shastri is unlikely to remain as Team India's head coach after the end of the  T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Shastri took over as India's full-time coach in mid-2017, after Anil Kumble, and the team has experienced remarkable success under him across all forms. However, it has been reported that the former all-rounder is unwilling to prolong his contract, which expires at the end of India's T20 World Cup campaign.

Based on sources, Ravi Shastri has already informed the Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI that he will not be extending his contract this time. As a result, the BCCI will appoint new candidates to his position. Meanwhile, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar's contracts are likely to leave their position; however, batting coach Vikram Rathour is anticipated to stay on.

Following Shastri's resignation, some major names are likely to enter the contest to become India's next head coach. Many former cricketers, as well as the vast majority of Indian cricket fans, want Rahul Dravid after Shastri. Dravid served as Team India's stand-in head coach during their July limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka.

Under Shastri's leadership, India reached the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-finals, finished second in the first World T20, and defeated Australia twice in their own home ground in the previous two Border-Gavaskar Trophy editions. During his time in the United Kingdom, India also finished the England Tests with a 2-1 advantage.
