Newzealand Calls Off Series, Pakistan Shocked

 - Sakshi Post

New Zealand cancelled their white-ball tour to Pakistan minutes before the first ODI in Rawalpindi on Friday due to security concerns and planning to reach their homes soon.

New Zealand was scheduled to play Pakistan in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, followed by a five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series.

"The Black Caps have abandoned the tour of Pakistan following a security alert from the New Zealand government. The team was scheduled to face Pakistan in the first of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) this evening in Rawalpindi before travelling to Lahore for a five-match T20 series," said New Zealand cricket in a release.

New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White explained the last-minute move by stating that the players' safety is of the utmost importance.

"I realise this will be a shock for the PCB, who have been fantastic hosts. But player safety is paramount, and we think this is the only reasonable choice." NZC chief executive, David White, said.

The Pakistan Cricket Board issued a statement as well, claiming that the decision to postpone the series was taken "unilaterally."
