IND vs NZ 1st ODI: Tom Latham and Kane Williamson Help New Zealand Win By 7 Wickets

New Zealand won the first ODI in a three-match One-Day International series in Auckland on Friday against India. It was a high-scoring game in which both sides fought to the bitter end and gave their all. The hosts batted brilliantly and easily won the game by 7 wickets.

When India was asked to bat first, Shikhar Dhawan (72) and Shubman Gill (50) played superbly for their 124-run opening stand. Following that, Shreyas Iyer held one end and acted as an anchor. He scored 80 runs and stayed till the end. He was supported by Sanju Samson (36) and Washington Sundar, who scored 37 runs in 16 balls and contributed to India's total of 306 runs. Lockie Ferguson was the highlight of the New Zealand bowlers, returning with statistics of 3/59.

Following that, India made another strong start, taking three fast wickets and reducing New Zealand to 88/3. Umran Malik's pace caused problems for the Kiwi batters and made them appear inept. But after that, skipper Kane Williamson (94*) and Tom Latham (145*) hammered Indian bowlers all over the field. Tom Latham came in to bat when New Zealand was 88/3 and stitched a partnership of over 200 runs with Kane Williamson, guiding their team home with seven wickets in hand to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
