 - Sakshi Post

Ahmedabad: Riding on a spectacular partnership between Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne, Australia emerged victorious in the ICC World Cup 2023 final which was played at Narendra Modi Stadium here on Sunday. Australia won the title match with 6 wickets.

The Aussies initially faltered but successfully chased down India's target of 240 runs, losing just three wickets in the first 10 overs.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins had won the toss and asked India to bat first. Men in blue put up a modest score of 240 due to the efforts of middle-order batsmen. However, their bowlers struggled to contain the Australian batsmen.

The bowlers managed to scalp 3 wickets in the initial overs, however, Travis Head and his partner Marnus Labuschagne displayed an aggressive approach from the outset. Travis Head was the star of the show for Australia as he scored a brilliant 137 off just 120 balls. He was ably supported by Marnus Labuschagne (58*), who chipped in with a well-made half-century.
