Australia Humble India by 209 Runs to Lift Maiden WTC Title
WTC 2023 Final Day 5: Pat Cummins and Co. defeated Indian by 209 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval on Sunday.
India began the day at 164 for 3 but soon lost batting mainstay Virat Kohli (49), followed by Ravindra Jadeja (0) and Ajinkya Rahane (43) to be bowled out for 234 in 63.3 overs. The wickets of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane fell quickly within the first session of the day's play while chasing an improbable target of 444.
Pat Cummins and Co. declared their second innings at 270/8 midway through the middle session. Australian bowler Scott Boland (3/46) bundled out Kohli and Jadeja in a single over while Nathan Lyon (4/41) had the best figures in the innings.
With the latest ICC title, Australia have become the first team in the world to win all ICC tournaments. In the past, the Aussies have won the ODI and T20I World Cups and the Champions Trophy.
