Australia Enters T20 World Cup Finals After Beating Pakistan
This is an amazing match from Dubai against group A toppers Pakistan and group B Australia. Australia broke Pakistan's winning streak and won the match by five wickets.
Chasing a 177-run target, Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade shared an unbroken fifty-run partnership to lead Australia to a five-wicket victory and a spot in the final against New Zealand on Sunday. Stoinis and Wade both played well-calculated strokes and took the game deep to mount an attack late in the run chase against Pakistan pacers. Wade clinched the game with three consecutive sixes off Shaheen Shah Afridi, giving him an over to spare and five wickets in hand.
Skipper Aaron Finch was down for a duck in the opening over against pacer Shaheen, while spinner Shadab Khan also got in on the action, taking four key wickets to upset Australia's quest of 177 runs for victory. Australia, on the other hand, built back their innings superbly, timing and building their innings around the desired run rate.
After being asked to bat in the second semifinal by Australia, Pakistan had scored 176 runs in 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. Pakistan's top scorer was Mohammad Rizwan, who amassed 67 runs. He scored 71 runs for the first wicket with skipper Babar Azam (39) and 72 runs for the second wicket with Fakhar Zaman (55*).
After Rizwan was sent back to the pavilion in the 18th over, Zaman hit fifty and completed Pakistan's innings. Mitchell Starc was Australia's top bowler, taking two wickets. Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa each took one wicket.
