Amid Unrest in Pakistan, Indian Bridge Players Dominate BFAME Championship

New Delhi: Bridge Federation of India has clarified that the 30-member Indian contingent, currently visiting Pakistan to participate in the 22nd Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) Championship, is not returning home without competing in the tournament. Earlier,  reports emerged that the Indian Bridge team had been asked to return to India due to unrest in the neighboring country following the arrest of former Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan and other party leaders. 

An official of Bridge Federation of India said the Indian contingent is ‘safe and secure’ and will stay put in the country until the tournament ends on May 13. 

Bridge players from several countries including Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bangladesh are participating in the Championship which began on May 9. 

According to the Pakistan news portal Dawn, the Indian Bridge team members are maintaining the top position in all four events. The Championship is being organized at a hotel in Lahore city.
