Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulated Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) who won the bronze medal in the Olympic Games after a comprehensive 0-5 loss to reigning world champion Busenaz Surmeneli here on Wednesday.

Congratulations to Lovlina Borgohai for winning the third medal for India at Tokyo 2020 . She fought the best in her category and won a medal in her debut Olympics. May you keep shining and inspire many young girls through your career ahead, he wrote in his twitter message.

Lovlina Borgohain had to stand up for strong challenge against Surmeneli who was quite aggressive with her hooks and body shots.

Borgohain makes it to history as the 23-year-old, who started her career as a Muay Thai practitioner and to become the third Indian boxer to win the medal. Hers is also the first Olympic medal in Indian boxing in nine years after Vijender Singh (2008) and M C Mary Kom (2012).
