Eid-ul-Fitr To Be Celebrated On Monday

HYDERABAD: Delhi’s Jama Masjid Shahi Imam, Syed Ahmed Bukhari announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday (May 25th) as Moon could not be sighted on Saturday. Bukhari further added that it is very important to take necessary precautions and should stay away from shaking hands and hugging during these COVID-19 times. 

"Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow (Sunday) as the moon has been sighted," Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir Nasir-ul-Islam said in Srinagar. He urged the people to offer their prayers at home those who are in red zones whereas people in green zones can offer namaz at some designated places and not mosques. In Kerala also, Eid will be celebrated on Sunday. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind appealed to people to follow the social distancing and lockdown guidelines of the governments and stay at home and offer namaz. The government has prohibited all kinds of religious gatherings to contain the spread of COVID-19. This will be perhaps the first time that there will be no mass namaz at mosques and idgahs across the country. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month Ramadan and it is one of the most important festivals for Muslims around the world.

All the mosques including Jama Masjid and Fathepuri Masjid, are closed due coronavirus pandemic. Alvida Namaz which is a congregational prayer at mosques in the month of Ramzan was offered by people at their homes.
