Vinayaka Chavithi 2021 - Ganesh Chathurthi 2021 - Sakshi Post

Ganesh Chaturthi 2021: Ganesh Chaturthi is one of India's most important festivals, marked by a great deal of dedication, excitement, and austerity. On this day, Lord Shiva is supposed to have accepted his son, Lord Ganesha, as one of the most powerful and outstanding gods. Lord Ganesha is regarded as a sign of knowledge, wisdom, fortune, and prosperity in Hindu mythology. To ensure success and fruition, Lord Ganesha is worshipped before beginning any big endeavour or event.

When it comes to Ganesh Chaturthi, the elders advise against looking up at the moon in the sky on this particular day. But do you know why? If you're not sure why check out the following fascinating story.

The Tale of the Moon God’s Curse

It is believed that Moon God Chandra, who was exceedingly attractive and proud of his appearance, once made sarcastic remarks about Lord Ganesha. Chandra remarked on Lord Ganesha's appearance, stating, "Ganesha has a big belly and an elephant head."

Hearing all of this, Lord Ganesha decided to chastise Chandra to teach him humility and politeness. As a result, Lord Ganesha cursed Chandra, stating that no one will worship the moon and that anybody who stares at it will be falsely accused and suffer a terrible reputation, even if they are innocent.

Chandra was broken and horrified at hearing this punishment; his rudeness and arrogance disappeared in an instant. Chandra, together with the other gods, began to worship Lord Ganesha to make amends and satisfy him once more.

Finally, Lord Ganesha was delighted and consented to lift Chandra's curse, but only on one condition. Humans can stare at the moon on any day except the day of "Bhadrapada Chaturthi," according to him. Anyone who views the moon on Bhadrapada Chaturthi, he added, will be subjected to false accusations.

From that day, 'Bhadrapada Chaturthi' has been known as Ganesh Chaturthi. Anyone who accidentally stares at the moon on Bhadrapada Chaturthi can worship Lord Ganesha, do the sacred rites, and listen to/recite the Ganesh Chaturthi story to be free of the curse.
