West Bengal Polls: AIMIM Chief Quits Party To Support Mamata in Nandigram
AIMIM West Bengal chief Zamirul quit the party just a day before the Assembly polls in the State. According to reports, Hasan will be joining the 'Indian National League' to support Banerjee in Nandigram. The reason for Hasan quitting the party is that he is upset over being 'neglected' by Owaisi.
In an interview to a media channel, Hasan said: "I had joined AIMIM in 2015. I worked hard to expand AIMIM to 20 districts of the state. In fact, Mamata Banerjee also targeted AIMIM and even arrested many party members. Despite that, Owaisi never held a press conference or spoke anything about us."
West Bengal elections will be viewed as a bipolar contest between BJP and TMC (Trinamool Congress Party). The elections will be held on March 27 in eight phases. The results will be declared on May 2.
