Seven Killed in Construction-related Incident in Ahmedabad, Builder Blamed for Covering-up
Ahmedabad : At least seven people have died and one other injured when an under-construction building lift collapsed in Navrangpura area of Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The condition of the injured person is stated to be critical.
As per some initial reports, eight people died due to the collapse of a centring of an under-construction building. The Mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Kiritkumar J Parmar said strict action will be taken against the builder for concealing the matter.

“We will assess if they broke the rules and regulations of the Municipal Corporation, we will check if someone passed wrong building plans and will take action accordingly,” Parmar said.

He further said the incident took place at the under-construction Aspire 2 building. As many as seven men expired after a roof fell at 7.30 in the morning but the builder hid it and informed the police after 11 am, the Mayor added.

Meanwhile, the authorities of the Fire and Emergency Services Department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation claimed to have received no communication or call regarding the incident. The fire and police team reached the spot only around 1 pm.
