Safety Wall Collapses, 10K People Stranded On Uttarakhand's Yamunotri Highway

Nearly 10,000 people are reportedly stuck after the security wall of the highway leading to the Yamunotri temple in Uttarakhand collapsed which led to traffic jams over a few kilometers. 10,000 people are said to be stuck at different places along the highway.

According to the reports, it may take 3 days to restore the highway. The passengers are being evacuated from some of the smaller vehicles but the people who have come in heavy vehicles are unable to leave. Buses and other vehicles passing through the area have been stopped. According to the sources, more than 20 buses and 15 minibusses with pilgrims were stopped. The officials have urged pilgrims to visit the Gangotri shrine first and later come back to Yamunotri.
