Partial Lockdown In Tamil Nadu: Check New Covid Protocols

The government of Tamil Nadu imposed new covid-19 restrictions from May 6 to May 20 to curb the positive cases in the state. An official statement was released on Monday night stating all government and private offices will be allowed to function with a maximum of 50 per cent workforce.

"The new restrictions are imposed after considering the recommendations of the home and health ministries of the Union government to contain the spread of Covid-19," an official release said.

The government had already prohibited shopping complexes and malls from April 26. Takeaway service and door delivery of food alone are permitted in restaurants/ hotels /mess. Grocery and vegetable shops will be allowed to function without ACs only till noon.

Cinema theatres are not permitted to open. All types of events are prohibited and the cap of 25 people to attend wedding-related gathering was now confined to only a maximum of 20 people.

Seating capacity in passenger trains, metro trains, private and government buses and rental taxis was decreased to 50 per cent. "Essential services like pharmacies and milk supply will be permitted as usual,” the release said.

Besides, fish markets, chicken and meat stalls will not be allowed on weekends. They will be allowed the rest of the week between 6 AM and noon. The previous restrictions during night curfew and Sunday lockdown would continue.
