New Year 2025: Goa Celebrates with Fireworks and Festivities
Goa, the beach destination, welcomed New Year 2025 with grand celebrations and festivities. Lakhs of tourists and residents thronged the beaches of the state after midnight on Wednesday to usher in the New Year. The state police ensured a smooth and peaceful celebration by regulating vehicular movement on busy routes despite heavy traffic on roads leading to the beaches.
Celebrations started on Tuesday evening when people gathered on prominent beaches such as Calangute, Baga, Vagator, and Candolim to view the last sunset of 2024. The beaches erupted with a dazzling fireworks display and musical programs organized at many beach shacks as soon as the clock struck midnight.
State Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant wished the people on the occasion. Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that the celebrations passed off peacefully, with tourists reaffirming their faith in Goa as their favourite destination for New Year celebrations.
Most of the hotels in the state, including the more expensive ones, were fully booked, which implies an increase in tourism revenue. The Christian population, which comprises about 30% of Goa's population, attended midnight masses held in various churches across the state, which were followed by get-togethers and entertainment activities.
Heavy security had been deployed at key places to avoid any law and order problems. Except for a few minor accidents, the celebration was held peacefully throughout.
In his message, Governor Pillai emphasized the significance of the New Year, which brings new hopes, aspirations, and expectations and rejuvenates our lives. Chief Minister Sawant encouraged the people to look back and appreciate the memories of life while exploring new opportunities and achieving new goals in the new year.
In all, Goa's New Year's celebrations were a resounding success, as the state showed its vibrant culture and hospitality. With the state embracing New Year 2025, it is obvious that Goa is one of the best places to be visited by tourists and revellers alike.
